What is this Program

Our Kitchen Rules is a dynamic and comprehensive program designed specifically for young adults aged 16 and over with a passion for cooking and a desire to enhance their culinary skills. 

This initiative offers a unique, hands-on approach to food education, allowing participants to delve into the world of diverse cuisines while focusing on the joy and creativity present in the culinary arts. 

The program is structured to provide practical kitchen experiences, from the fundamentals of meal preparation to the excitement of executing a perfectly planned dinner.

Purpose of the Program

The primary objective of Our Kitchen Rules is to lay down essential skills, from kitchen safety to meal prep, cooking, and presenting food. Program participants will gain practical knowledge in creating menus, managing a budget for groceries, and learning to select ingredients wisely. 

The program further intends to educate on a variety of cooking methods to inspire versatility in the kitchen. Our Kitchen Rules seeks to develop culinary confidence, encourage self-expression, and leave participants with a sense of accomplishment and cherished memories.

Who this Program is for

This program is tailored for young adults aged 16 and over who have an eagerness to learn about cooking. The program is suited for those looking to increase their confidence in the kitchen, whether they're complete beginners or have some experience and want to refine their skills.

 

The goal is to help young adults engage in a communal learning experience that's not only educational but also incredibly fun and empowering. Participants will not only leave with enhanced culinary abilities but also with improved social and communication skills gained through interactive group activities.

Objectives of the Program

Establish foundations within the kitchen environment, ensuring safety, and building basic meal preparation and cooking skills.

Provide practical skills in meal planning, budgeting, and informed grocery shopping, reinforcing the connection between planning and executing meals.

Introduce various cooking techniques, including baking, sauteing, boiling, grilling, and one-pot meals.

Hands-on group collaboration, promoting teamwork and creativity.

Foster a sense of achievement, increased culinary confidence, and lasting memories.

Group program 

Goals and activities are targeted towards developing independent skills and fine and gross motor skills. 

A secure and caring environment to promote engagement and learning.

Children start at different levels and we meet the child at their level. 

A capacity-building program focused on functional goals.

Qualified program facilitator to provide guidance and encourage participation. 

To support your child's development and independence to ensure they reach their potential and to be able to engage in meaningful activities.

Spots are limited in this group setting and enrolment needs to be confirmed. 

The option to use your NDIS funding is available for this program. 

Please Note: Each parent will be asked to complete a Program Questionnaire to ensure we consider all the necessary variables to be inclusive and safe. Some children may require a support worker or parent/guardian to attend, this will be discussed prior to the program and will need to be arranged by the parent. As this program is offsite, we will need to ensure the safety of all kids attending.
